The Škoda Auto as, often abbreviated to Škoda, is a Czech automobile company founded in 1925 as the successor to Laurin & Klement, headquartered in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic. Škoda became state-owned in 1948. Škoda’s profit margin was the second highest of all Volkswagen AG brands after Porsche. The Škoda plant was established as a weapons manufacturer in 1859. Škoda Auto is the fifth oldest car manufacturing company and has an uninterrupted history alongside Daimler, Opel, Peugeot and Tatra.

Škoda still produced its outdated range of rear-engined small family cars, although in 1987 it began production of the front-wheel-drive Favorit hatchback as a possible replacement. The brand’s first fully electric car, the Škoda Citigo e iV city car, has been on sale since the beginning of 2020. The current fastest production Škoda car is the Škoda Superb III, with a top speed of 250 km/h (160 mph) and acceleration from Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h h (0 to 62 mph) in 5.8 seconds. Currently mass-produced models are Skoda Enyaq, Skoda Octavia, Skoda Superb, Skoda Fabia, Skoda Scala, Skoda Kamiq, Skoda Kodiaq, and Skoda Karoq.
