The Proton Holdings Berhad is a Malaysian automobile company and automobile corporation engaged in the design, manufacture, distribution and sale of automobiles. Proton was established in 1985 as Malaysia’s only nationally branded car company until the arrival of Perodua in 1993. The Proton Holdings headquartered in Shah Alam, Selangor and operates additional facilities in Proton City, Perak. Proton Holdings is a Malay abbreviation for Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional.
